“It is in playing and only in playing that the individual child or adult is able to be creative and to use the whole personality, and it is only in being creative that the individual discovers the self.” Bound up with this is the fact that only in playing is communication possible
 (D.W.Winnicott,1971).

For me painting quiets my mind allowing my emotions to have a chance to communicate. Our minds are so strong that it is hard to allow other aspects of our self to be heard, seen, or felt. My preferred choice of medium is acrylic because of its plasticity and malleability. I’ve also used watercolors, ink and mixed media. Acrylic paints dry faster so they work well with my energetic style of painting. Experimentation is an important aspect of my work which is mostly abstract- I’ve also focused on different themes such as flowers. My latest works focus on nude models. My abstract works are an adventure in vibrant colors, energetic strokes and convey abstract expressionism. My use of texture and strong hues gives my work added excitement, sensitivity and dramatic depth.

My art has its source in the difficult moments that have marked my life- illness, loss of loved ones but it draws too on memories of travel, in which dreams and realities intermingle.

Art has assisted me in healing or in the restorative process. It has helped me express feelings or emotions that words alone cannot. I use my art as a therapeutic tool towards the process of healing, clearing the mind and self-expression.
Many of the inspirations of my art can also be attributed to my love of nature, music, people, places, shapes and colors, as well as other painters such as Picasso, Joan Mitchell, J.P.Riopelle, Gauguin, Matisse, Francine Labelle et Isis Duperré.
My art has changed and grown over the years. Today I continue to draw, paint and embrace the creative process passionately.
